          Interesting Information About Wixom

/files/CBP/Wixom Community.jpegWixom History -- Wixom was founded in the 1830's by Lewis Norton. Today, Norton Creek bares his name. Development of Wixom was started by Alonzo Sibley, who purchased 80 acres, built a home, cultivated and cleared the land. The town was named after Ahijah Wixom, who settled the northern portion of Wixom in 1832. The first school was built in 1854 and was used as a meeting place for Sunday services. Until 1871, Wixom was known as Sibley's Corners. Wixom was incorporated into a village in 1957. Today, the City of Wixom has become a major suburban area as well as a site for manufacturing.
